On making things

It's no secret I love to make things.  Pretty things, practical things, fun things, girly things, all sorts of things.  I obsess when I make something I love I make it until I can make it no longer.  Or I get bored with it.  Which ever comes first.  Right now I'm not sick of these and I don't think I'm going to be any time soon.  I think this obsession is going to be something everyone loves!  They are shabby, pretty, practical and fun.  I wear them all the time.  Ok that is when I'm not in my red scrubs at work.  But wait, I actually do wear them in my hair at work.  They are super versatile and oh so chic.  They can be worn as pins, hair clips or you can even use them on your interchangeable headbands.  Once I get some half decent pictures I'm considering doing a deal on groopdealz.  Anyone done those before?  I'm hoping that will generate some business so I can really make my dream a reality!  I've made probably 100+ flowers so far and was in the middle of taking pictures to upload to my store this afternoon when the sun shifted and I couldn't get any further than these two pictures (insert sad face here!).  I'm hoping tomorrow afternoon I can snap a few more individual photos for the store.

All the flowers are made using scraps of upcycled fabrics and various different centers using buttons, vintage jewlry pieces, etc.  They will come in two sizes, 3" and 2" and individually and in pairs.  I just have to decide on a price for these.  What would you pay?  I need a good unbiased opinion here.  Don't be shy, I welcome suggestions for pricing because I hate that part.  I try to be reasonable but also price accordingly.  So lay it on me peeps!  Your thoughts are always welcome and appreciated.

I'm not a mom therefore I shouldn't blog

I seriously wonder if there are any non-mommy bloggers out there.  HELLO why are all bloggers mommies?  Don't get me wrong, I love reading a lot of different mommy blogs but can I PLEASE find someone who doesn't have kids, who doesn't post pictures of their oh-so-adorable little one with cake all over their face telling a super cute story of the events that led up to cake in face?  I feel like I don't belong in blogger land because I don't have kids.  Maybe I'm bitter because I don't have kids.  If I had kids would I be blogging about poopy diapers and cute giggle noises or how Junior left a toy out and tripped over it and almost broke my neck?  Would I be fully engrossed with the mom blogs and regret ever posting this?  Who knows, all I know right now is that I'd love to find a blog or 2 or 3 that isn't focused on kids, being a wifey (because I am not one of those either, well not fully.  Engaged for 11 years a wifey does not make.) or being in the kitchen cooking delectable dishes in your crock pot all day (I do enjoy a good recipe though) and then following it up with a walk around the block with your other mommy friends talking about poopy diapers and the like.

So in conclusion to my obvious bitterness I would love some recommendations of some good blogs that aren't mommy blogs.  Oh one last thing, please no tween beauty guru blogs either.(not that I don't appreciate and love a good beauty blog, heck I even have my own section for beauty tips).  That's a post for another day...

Please do tell me of your non-mommy blog faves!

What type of blogger am I?!

Recently, ok like a few hours ago, I registered for This Site.  And I've been perusing through the posts and reading all about successful blogging, etc.  I've realized I have no "theme" to my blog. Does my blog have to have one theme, one main topic?  Can I be all over the board?  Can I just blog about the moment?  About what I'm doing at the time? Will this bore readers? Do I even have any readers?!  Do I really need to have more of a focal point?  You know like food bloggers or photog bloggers or DIY bloggers....This got me thinking, once upon a time my blog was strictly focused on paper crafts and card making.  Back then I had a huge following, I had videos and tutorials and I really enjoyed my time blogging and then I changed my focus and it's continued changing for some time. I am an on and off blogger, I am not focused on any thing, I was going to blog when I felt like it and that was that. But now I really want to make my blog active again and give my readers something worth while to read.  So here begins my journey to discover what type of blogger I am and hopefully finally have a blog again that people will enjoy, that I will enjoy!

I will blog weekly (until I find my groove again to blog daily)
I will post cool photos (because I love photography)
I will get back into visiting other's blogs regularly.
I will comment on blogs again instead of being a lurker!
I will enjoy this journey!

Rustic or shabby?

Are my new flowers rustic? Are the shabby? I can't decide but I have decided that I absolutely live them. My current dilemma is whether to make them pins, hair clips, headband additions or all 3. I even had a thought to make them necklaces. What do u think?!

Beauty found

Good morning!!!  It's a gorgeous morning  Phoenix.  It's going to be hot later today.  Summer is making an early appearance and I'm not so sure I'm ready for that but I love everything about spring.  The sun, the warmth, the pretty flowers in the yard, or the neighbors yard as it were.

I've been itching to take some awesome photos lately but I'm oh so lazy.  So while taking out the trash this morning, I looked over at the neighbors bushes in the front yard and saw this beauty.  I don't know what kind of flowers these are but I think they are so pretty!  And I {heart} instagram.  So this morning I share the beautiful foliage that is "dessert landscaping".  Here's to a great morning, a fabulous week and an even better month.  Happy Spring!

2012 may not suck afterall

2012 started off super craptacular!
Mom died :(
Job sucked (ok that was an over flow of 2011)
Quit job
Started a new job I wasn't too sure about

But here we are in April and things are starting to look up.  I'm still super sad about my mom.  I miss her terribly and wish I could just talk to her one more time but I'm coming to accept the reality of it and I'm coming to terms with it.  It sucks and there are days when I don't want to get out of bed but life must go on and in the words of my mom "I'm a smart girl, I'll figure it out!".
I recently took a huge leap of faith and quit my full time job with benefits because the stress was just too much and recently started my adventure as a waxer.  Yes, a waxer.  I was peoples body parts all day.  Yep, even down there!  So far so good and the best part is that I'm only working 25-30 hours a week so I have lots time to really focus on developing kharliebug products for the next season and my online store.  So this year may not totally suck ass!

I've got sketches and photos and ideas galore, now to just get them out of my head in into your hands!!!!

Go 2012!!!!!

New bags coming soon

I've been working on new designs for KB and I thought it would be fun to preview them a little early.  I love these bags more than I have loved any of them before and there are so so many more to come.  I've decided to stream line my product line and narrow the options down so here's some of what the new season will bring.  You'd never know that all of my bags are now made of re purposed materials and they are all hand made by yours truly!  I will be selling these soon on in my online store but until I get them photographed and posted, you'll just have to admire them from afar ;)
